‘Civitas’ is Latin for good government and citizenship, the mark of the Romano-Celtic society of Christianised Celtic peoples of Britain, who forged our earliest Welsh culture. This heritage was kept alive in Wales (‘Cymru’ in Welsh) through the ‘dark ages’ of Europe, and can be seen in the laws codified by King Hywel Dda and again in Owain Glyndŵr’s aspirations, 600 years ago, for a nation equal among others in Europe. This vision is taking new shape with the advent of a modern civic society and self-government in Wales. The door to success is open to all who contribute to Wales’ development.
